You say "po-TAY-to," I say "po-TAH-to," either makes a fine side for your entree of "Liver" (or "Live-er"), if you happen to be listening to the new concert album by Steve Taylor. Recorded on last year's monumental "Squintenational Tour," Liver offers not only songs from Taylor's comeback opus Squint, but also offers a fine cross-section of his career (from his Sparrow debut I Want To Be a Clone to his days in the band Chagall Guevara). Most of the songs are straight readings of Taylor's hits, but he does still throw a few curve balls. Big distortion and punk energy give new life to "I Want To Be a Clone," while "On The Fritz" takes on a smoky, bluesy feel during the verses, and a big rock dynamic on the chorus. If you caught the tour last year, this disc will make a fine souvenir of what was surely a memorable evening. If you missed it, however, here's a chance to get a peek at what you missed.
