Too Bad Eugene are on Mike Herrera's Rock City Recording Co., and they have a new CD out called At Any Rate. If you are a 'pop-punk' enthusiast you are in for a treat, because Santa Cruz, CA's Too Bad Eugene are definitely a noteworthy sampling of the ironic genre. Immaculate production allows for strong pseudo-metal, rock-roll, and 3-chord riffs to shine atop full drums and balanced up-tempos, and lead-singer Adam's vocals are controlled, truly melodic, and pretty -- yet still tuff and manly of course, right guys. Probably more rock 'n' roll than 'pop-punk' -- which helps in the cred dept. -- Too Bad Eugene are another band emulating MxPx, but actually doing a really good job of it, and even surpassing them in wonderful instances of unique personality and an overriding sense of knowing-what's-up -- like when they nail climaxes perfectly and spice up songs with well-timed funky bits of rock flavor. Song topics range from loving 'non-beautiful' people, to dogma, to quirky girl songs. More info: www.mxpx.com/rockcity

Decapolis 2001Reviewed by Tom BastianToo Bad Eugene, the first band (other than an MxPx related album) to be released on the "MxPx" run label Rock City Recording Company is quite impressive and definitely something you would expect from this label. Rock with a punk rock edge, Too Bad Eugene brings us a rather solid release. Mixing a classic Descendents, No Use For A Name, MxPx and Huntingtons sound into something that comes across…
