What do you call this style? Is it Punk? Is it Emo? Or is it yet another genre that we have yet to hear? The only way I know how to classify The Alkaline Trio is that they are good -- real good!! They are different than most typical Asian Man bands in that they are not completely true to punk. They combine emo and punk styles at times, but mainly create their own catchy, hybrid sound. On their second full length, they continued to amaze me. The album is very similar to their first LP, as they use very clever lyrics and sophisticated punk guitars licks. They are too talented to be punk (no offense punkers, but let's face it, punk is not the most intricate music) but too amusing to be emo. If you like the last album, you will definitely like this one. Songs like Madam Me are more aggressive and in your face style while F. U. Aurora is being more classic AT. If you like the Alkaline Trio - buy this album. If you like punk - buy this album. Catchy, melodic, intelligent Punk/Emo, what else can you ask for?

Decapolis 2000Reviewed by ConradThis is an incredible album. This is the best album we've gotten to review with perhaps the exception of another Alkaline Trio CD, which was a 4 song EP. What we have in the Alkaline Trio is incredibly catchy rock. It totally rocks, it's really catchy, and the lyrics are creative. The drums are amazing and non-stop. The bassist is super creative, not just playing the root notes over and over. The…Decapolis 2000Reviewed by Tom BastianThis band is great, definitely one of my favorite bands. They have covered just about everything that I look for in a great band. They are often considered a punk rock band, with an emo feel, but I don't think that really covers it. Yes they do have a punk feel, and yes their vocals and lyrics are very emotional, but there is just so much more. Tons of energy, great melodies, driving guitar,…Decapolis 2000Reviewed by TimWhile this album is not as good as the last one it is still enjoyable. The songs sound like a mix of Green Day and the Get Up Kids. Basically slower punk rock with decent melodies and guitar. Good guitar parts. Good arrangement and the singers voice is really strong. The melodies could be catchier, but overall, this CD is better than most anything that has been released this year. B+Decapolis 2000Reviewed by Matt AWhat can I say about this band other than they're probably my favorite band around. This album is darker than their others, but the songwriting and lyrics are definitely trademark Alkaline Trio. My favorite tracks are probably "She took him to the Lake", "You've Got So Far to Go", "F. U. Aurora", and "Radio", but the whole record is top quality melodic punk/emo.
