Oh yahhh. Doom. Although this isn't as slow as it gets. Cold Mourning is about as doomy as doom gets. I'd guess these guys know that if you play too slow too often, it can get too boring. They do keep it interesting with good strong way-heavy melodies backed by some finger bleeding leads especially in "Thy Cross" where Matt (v,g) says "Oh yahhh" exactly like Cathedral's Lee Dorrian, then Angelo (l,g) burns it up identically Garry Jennings. They wear their mentors, such as St. Vitus, Trouble, Sabbath, but not to the extent of sounding unoriginal. The 5 songs on Looking Forward To Reason are all written fairly skillfully. But the reasons I can find for labels to be hesitant to offer a pen & dotted line is the occasional sloppiness & vocals that go beyond doom to being flat. The speaking loudly instead of singing can be a bit unnerving. But maybe that's the point. Also sent me was a tape of 2 new songs "Fall Of Life" & "In The Midst Of Stones". These 2 studio mixes (on Side A) seem a little tighter. Song 2 is much slower & longer than their usual, then gradually speeds up. It's also got some frightening growling & double bassing. Side B is a super distorted live recording from The Roller Rink in Monterey CA & features songs from the LFTR tape.
