I'm always on the lookout for unsigned thrash bands I can recommend to people. True Repentance is one such band. First off, this tape features decent sonics. Secondly, the band knows a good power speed metal riff when they find one. The only drawback on the overall sound here is the vocal level in the mix. The vocal delivery is in the discernable growl variety, but mixed too low here. The only drawback to the songwriting is the band tends to play the good power speed metal riffs to death. The leads in Destiny Awaits add a little alternative wah-wah flair to the song between crunch-crunch-crunch. The best tune is the dynamic title cut, Pray This Prayer, which ends with a cool spoken prayer at the end asking for forgiveness. If I was a label, I wouldn't sign these guys up yet, but their tape is listenable, so it stands above some of the junk out there. For ordering info, write: 2917 Laramie St, Irving TX 75062.
