ACM Journal Disc #3
Reviewed by Doug Van Pelt
Another fine disc from the ACM Journal, this one commemorates the end of their fine coverage of rad Christian music (The editors are going to devote their talents to other Christian publications around the country). The heavy rock here is represented by punksters Three Nails (with "Sex Sells" and "The Fall") and Modest Attraction--a big league swat at the commercial metal genre a la Europe/Bon Jovi that is produced well. In fact, the entire disc has great sonics. The Modest Attraction cut, "Action," was also featured on one of the band's earlier demos (reviewed in HM #36). For those into the grunge sound, there's plenty to enjoy here, with: Hunting Man, Waterfront, Cornerstone (the heaviest of this style), The Happy Jerks and Blenderhead. This sampler is a better cross-section of alternative music than you'll find on any major label release. To order, send $5.00 to: ACM Journal, 7910 37th Avenue SW, Seattle, WA 98126.
