I like Sean Corbray's vocals a lot better in Within than in Embodyment. They are a lot more emotional. I like their unrefined approach to hardcore. They pull it off very well. While the music is not amazing, it's very good. The music fits the vocals very well. There are also some cool tribal drums thrown in periodically, reminiscent of Candiria. One thing I like about this album is that it's not monotonous. A lot of hardcore bands put 10 songs on a CD that sound exactly the same. Within changes it up a lot. The production is very good as well. Deadself is growing more and more and will likely become very popular if they keep putting out quality releases such as this one.

Dead Zine 2002Reviewed by FletchI expected a little more out of this cd. Not that it was bad, I just had abnormally high expectations for Within because of all the good things I had heard about them. To describe their sound, imagine a mix of Zao and Exist. Their music is not really anything innovative and original and their vocals didn't really impress me. They sound like the kind of band that would be really good live but…Similar sounding releases
